Tucked into the rolling hills of Virginia horse country, a Glenstone Gardens wedding feels less like a traditional venue experience and more like stepping into a private estate for the weekend. With sprawling gardens, layered landscapes, elegant tented receptions, and an atmosphere that feels deeply personal, it’s the kind of place that naturally lends itself to highly designed celebrations without ever feeling overly formal.
I had the chance to spend a full editorial weekend on the property earlier this year doing a carefully designed creative shoot meant to explore everything the venue offers, and I left genuinely excited to share what I found.
So consider this less of a wedding recap and more of an honest photographer’s walkthrough. I roamed the grounds, got into every corner with my camera, and paid close attention to the details that matter most to couples planning a highly designed celebration. Here’s what you should know.

What Glenstone Gardens Actually Feels Like
A Glenstone Gardens wedding feels less like renting a venue and more like borrowing a private estate for the weekend. The property sits within Virginia’s horse country, surrounded by mountain views and countryside that layers naturally behind every shot.
What surprised me most was how the grounds allow a wedding weekend to unfold rather than just happen. Multiple event areas mean your rehearsal dinner, ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception can each feel distinct, with their own visual mood, without your guests ever getting in a van to go somewhere else.
It never feels overproduced or corporate. There’s a warmth to the property that keeps even the most editorial celebrations feeling personal.
The Red Fox Inn: Where Your Guests Will Stay
Their sister property, The Red Fox Inn is perfect for a rehearsal dinner and for the main guests of the event to stay.
For couples planning a full wedding weekend, and if you’re considering Glenstone, this changes everything. Your closest guests can stay in a five-star inn in one of the most charming DC-area towns imaginable. The Red Fox functions beautifully as a rehearsal dinner venue and gives the weekend a sense of arrival that a simple block of hotel rooms never could.
My favorite part of staying on this property was being able to spend my weekend in the Jackie Kennedy suite. A a large ensuite that Jackie Kennedy herself stayed at when she would frequent the property, I can see why she enjoyed it. Its private, luxurious, and has all the amenities a girl can ask for.

For couples planning a highly customized wedding weekend, Glenstone Gardens offers:
- Expansive gardens and estate grounds
- Beautiful mountain and countryside views
- Multiple event locations throughout the property
- Ideal spaces for tented receptions
- A private-estate atmosphere
- Natural scenery that photographs beautifully in every season
The venue particularly shines for couples drawn to editorial design, layered textures, thoughtful florals, and a more immersive guest experience.
The Editorial Weekend: What We Explored
For the creative shoot, we built out a full design concept to showcase what a Glenstone wedding could look like at its most intentional. Every choice was deliberate as it was connected to a larger visual story of the property’s equestrian landscape and old American countryside character.
The invitation suite set the tone immediately: equestrian references, custom artwork, layered paper textures, and vintage-inspired details.
We carried those design threads throughout:
- Strawberry motifs woven into the tablescape
- Gingham linens layered against tailored place settings
- Deep red florals softened with airy whites and natural greens
- Warm wood balanced against elegant glassware and candlelight
- Bridal accessories that felt fashion-forward without overpowering the setting
Planner and designer Britt Jones led the creative direction, and I’ve rarely seen color palettes layered with that kind of confidence. Britt and her team are truly to talented and they made this creative piece come together so nicely.
The tented reception build was the most visually striking element. Floral-lined tables stretched beneath patterned draping that tied in so many elements together. It’s one of my all time favorite concepts so far.
