There’s something timeless about a New York City Hall marriage license day. The anticipation and the mix of nerves and excitement in the middle of downtown Manhattan. Rosana and Richie’s story is the perfect example of why I adore photographing romantic NYC courthouse weddings.

Rosana and Richie had hired me to photograph their wedding, and it just so happen that I was going to be in New York for their city hall marriage license filing. When she texted me and asked “what are the odds your available?” I told her I would be there in a heartbeat.

We met outside New York City Hall on a crisp morning, surrounded by the buzz of other couples waiting to file their marriage licenses. Because of overcrowding, photographers weren’t allowed inside that day, so I waited outside until Rosana and Richie came through those classic bronze doors. Hand in hand, smiling, and officially one step closer to “I do.”

From there, we wandered through Tribeca for a spontaneous mini session, turning their marriage license appointment into a fun filled morning. Between the elegant architecture and the textured city backdrops, it felt effortlessly romantic. It helps when you have such a great charismatic couple to work with! Together, they brought such warmth and ease to every frame. They perfectly capturing what I love most about romantic NYC courthouse wedding photos. The blend of love, laughter, and everyday New York magic.

After our portraits in Tribeca, we wrapped the morning with a quick visit to their venue for a final walkthrough before the big day. Seeing how excited they were for what’s ahead made me even more thrilled to photograph their wedding. I already know it’s going to be filled with so much love.
