Some weddings feel planned.
Others feel alive.
Stephanie and Matthewโs wedding at Cannon Green landed squarely in the second category for a Charleston Wedding. Inspired by a garden party atmosphere but grounded in the warmth of close friendships and family, their day unfolded with ease, intention, and a lot of laughter.
With Marian Frances Events guiding the vision, everything felt thoughtful without ever feeling overproduced. The result was a day that felt relaxed, personal, and full of genuine joy from start to finish.
A Garden Party Feel in the Heart of Charleston
Cannon Green is one of those venues that naturally lends itself to a garden party style. The greenery, open veranda space create an environment that feels welcoming the moment you walk in. Stephanie and Matthew leaned into that setting rather than trying to transform it.
A Reception That Truly Felt Like a Celebration
The reception was where the day really took on a life of its own.
From the first moments on the dance floor, it was clear that Stephanie and Matthewโs friends and family came ready to celebrate. The room was full of movement, laughter, and the kind of unfiltered joy you canโt manufacture. People werenโt watching the party โ they were in it.
Those are the moments I always hope for as a photographer. The ones where everyone forgets about the camera and simply shows up for each other.
Photographing on Film, Scanned In-House
I photographed parts of Stephanie and Matthewโs day on film, which felt like the perfect match for the softness and intimacy of the celebration. Film has a way of holding emotion differently. It really slows things down and adds a quiet depth thatโs hard to replicate.
After the wedding, I scanned the film myself, which gave me full control over the final look and feel of the images. The scans came out beautifully and full of subtle texture that fit the day so well.
Both Stephanie and Matthew loved their images, which is always the best part of the process. Seeing couples connect with their photos on an emotional level is what makes the extra time and care worth it.
